Running for a cure

Each February a volunteer team runs in their underwear for Cupid's Undie Run. Proceeds benefit the Children's Tumor Foundation, which funds research toward treatments and a cure for neurofibromatosis (NF), a condition affecting about 1 in 3,000 people.

Sylvie's Story

Born in Austin. Brave since day one.

Sylvie was born in Austin, TX, in November 2012. At four months old she was diagnosed with NF1 and tibial dysplasia.

2026 update

Sylvie has had five more surgeries, including rod replacements in both legs. In 2019 an MRI revealed an optic glioma, a spinal lesion and minor brain lesions, and she has since faced severe NF-related scoliosis. Treatment included a back brace, spinal surgery at NYU Children's Hospital in 2023, and a 13-level spinal fusion at Nemours Children's Hospital in Delaware in 2025.
